Opening a third-party account: what you need to know

By law, Desjardins must take certain steps to determine if an account is intended for use by a third party or on their behalf.

What's a third party?

A third party is a person or entity that uses an account that is not in their name. The third party gives the account holder instructions as to what transactions they want made.
Parent for child accounts and accounts on which there is a power of attorney are not third party accounts.
