How to set up international money transfers on AccèsD
Before making your first international transfer, call us to make an appointment at a caisse or branch to find out the daily transfer limit ($5,000 a day) and enable the feature on AccèsD. You'll then be able to make your transfers on AccèsD using a web browser. This feature isn't available in the mobile app.

Information required for SWIFT transfers
To complete a SWIFT transfer, you need to know the following information about your recipient.
- First and last names
- Home address
- Financial institution branch address
- Banking details based on destination: (for example, BIC (bank identifier code, also called the SWIFT code), account number, branch name and ID)
- Reason for transfer (for example: reservation, subscription)

Mandatory banking information:
The CLABE (Clave Bancaria Estandarizada or standardized banking code) has 18 characters.
The first 3 characters identify the bank, the next 3 refer to the branch, the next 11 represent the recipient’s account number, and the last character is the control digit.
Some Mexican banks don’t use the CLABE for US dollar accounts. Only the account number is required.

Routing transit number
The ABA routing transit number (ABA, routing number) has 9 digits.
Note: Banks generally use a different routing number for direct deposits and SWIFT transfers. In some cases, however, the numbers may be one and the same.

The 12-digit CNAPS (China National Advanced Payments System) code is required for transfers in yuan (CNY).
This code identifies the recipient's bank branch.
In order to avoid transfer returns or delays, don't shorten the recipient's first or last name.

Australia
Mandatory banking information:
The 6-digit BSB (Bank State Branch) code is required for transfers in Australian dollars (AUD).
This code, which identifies the recipient's bank branch, must be entered in the Identification no. box on the AccèsD form.

IBAN
IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a bank account identifier mainly used in Europe. It varies from country to country and consists of up to 34 characters.
It often appears on bank statements and invoices of companies and individuals residing in participating countries.
Even though it's not required locally, some countries might use the IBAN. When the IBAN is indicated on the AccèsD form, we suggest you use it instead of the account number.

With international direct deposit, you can deposit funds directly into the account of an individual overseas. It’s an inexpensive way to transfer money to many countries around the world.

Information required
To make an international direct deposit, you need the following information about your recipient:
- First and last names
- Home address
- Name and address of the recipient's financial institution branch
- Banking details based on destination and transfer method (such as the IBAN (International Bank Account Number), CLABE (Clave Bancaria Estandarizada or standardized banking code), routing number, account number, branch name and ID)
- Reason for transfer (for example: reservation, subscription)

You can only make a direct deposit if the instructions on the AccèsD form mention ACH (Automated Clearing House). If the account isn't eligible for ACH transactions, the direct deposit won't go through.

Security
Check current international economic sanctions
Desjardins Group and all financial institutions in its network of foreign correspondent banks are subject to strict regulations on international economic sanctions.
Funds transfers may be temporarily blocked as a result of these sanctions. If your transfer is blocked, you may be asked some additional questions. It will then be either completed or cancelled, depending on your responses.
With some exceptions, a funds transfer may not be completed if an individual, business, organization, group or country involved in the transaction is directly or indirectly subject to international economic sanctions.
It is your responsibility to make sure that your funds transfer doesn’t violate international economic sanctions.

To receive a transfer in Canadian or US dollars or in another currency, fill out the relevant section of the Incoming wire transfer (PDF, 213 KB) form, then send it to the person who's planning to transfer funds to you.

There is a money transfer limit set for your account, but the system factors in the limit set by the destination country or territory, as well as a security limit determined by Desjardins.
You can consult money transfer limits on AccèsD using a web browser. Under Transfers in the right-hand menu, select International money transfers then Make a transfer.
The exchange rate used is the real time market rate. Exchange rates are updated live between 7:30 AM and 5 PM on business days.
When the markets are closed (before 7:30 AM and after 5 PM on business days and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), Desjardins Group's Treasury increases the spread between the current buying and selling rates. The spread is readjusted once the markets open.
