The Chemin du Roy challenge: an inspiring feat!





Nine runners and 4 cyclists working in the Procurement and Administrative Services Division successfully completed the Chemin du Roy challenge on October 19 and 20, 2017.

Thanks to many generous donations, about $22,000 was raised and will be redistributed to schools in Quebec.

Participants started off at Complexe Desjardins in Montreal and followed picturesque Highway 138, ending 228 km later at Cité Desjardins in Lévis. The non-stop relay lasted all day and all night—what an achievement!

Here are some of the activities funded by the Chemin du Roy challenge:

  • Participation of young people in the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie in 2018 - École secondaire Pierre-Dupuy, Montreal
  • Inclusion of children with language impairments in an introduction to circus arts project - École primaire Pie-XII, Repentigny
  • Creation of obstacle courses and daycare/grade 6 mentoring - École primaire des Bourdons/Courval, Neuville
  • Pet therapy project for children with behavioural issues - École St-François (primary and secondary), Quebec City
  • Participation of Harmonie Élite des Navigateurs, a school board-wide music group, in an international competition - Commission scolaire des Navigateurs, Lévis
  • Reading project for autistic and underprivileged kids - École Joseph-Amédée-Bélanger, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu
