Sharing confidential documents securely

Securely share confidential information with us through our document sharing feature or by email.

Document sharing: A secure way to share information

Need to share confidential documents with us to open an account, renew a mortgage or manage your savings? There's a quick, easy and secure way to do it thanks to our document sharing feature.

How document sharing works

Setup

If you need to share confidential documents, the person handling your file will create a document sharing zone. A new sharing zone is created for each request.

Login and notifications

When a document sharing zone is created, you receive the login information by email. Whenever the person handling your file shares a document, you are notified, and vice versa.

Security

Only you, the person who created the sharing zone and any authorized colleagues can access it. Sharing zones remain open until the expiration date indicated in the zone. After that, any documents in them are deleted.

How to access your document sharing zone

Check your email inbox. You should have received a confirmation email with instructions to log in to the document sharing zone.

From this page

Access your document sharing zone in 3 steps.

On AccèsD: You can access your sharing zone from a web browser or the Desjardins mobile services app.
On AccèsD Affaires: You can access your sharing zone from a web browser only.

How to view and send documents

Viewing documents

  1. Access the document sharing zone.
  2. Go to View documents or, if you're using our mobile app, go to Received documents.

Sending documents

On AccèsD, on AccèsD Affaires or from this page:

  1. Access the document sharing zone.
  2. In the Share documents section, select Add document, then select the documents you want to share.

On the Desjardins mobile app:

  1. Select Send documents.
  2. Select Add.
  3. Make sure the right documents appear under Added documents.
  4. Select Send.

Accepted formats, size limit and number of files

File formats

The following formats are accepted: PDF, JPEG, JPG, PNG, GIF, DOC, XLS, DOCX, XLXS, CSV PPT and ZIP.

File size limit

The maximum file size you can share is 15 MB on a web browser and 10 MB on our mobile app.

Large files

If your file is too big, you'll need to split it into several smaller ones.

Maximum number of files

You can upload up to 50 files at once. Each file can be up to 15 MB when using a web browser, or up to 10 MB each when using our mobile app.

How to email confidential documents

If you don't have access to a document sharing zone, you can still send confidential information securely by email.

  1. Protect your documents with a password

Use software like WinZip or 7-Zip to put all your confidential documents in one file and lock it with a password.

  2. Choose a strong password

    Your password must be:

    • Hard to guess
    • Made up of at least 8 characters
    • Unique (different from your other passwords and usernames)
  3. Give the password by a method other than email

Give the password to the person handling your file over the phone, by text message or in person.

Never share your login information

Some information should never be shared, even in a secure environment. This includes:

  • Passwords
  • Answers to security questions
  • PINs (personal identification numbers)

What should I do if I haven't received an email to say that a document sharing zone has been created?

  • Check your email spam folder.
  • If the email isn't there, contact your advisor to make sure we have the right email address on file.

Once I’m in a document sharing zone, can I access another sharing zone from the same place, or do I need to log in separately?

You must log in to each sharing zone separately through the appropriate channel (AccèsD, the mobile app, AccèsD Affaires or this page).

Do I have to add a password to my files before sharing them?

No. Shared files don't have to be protected with a password because they are shared in a secure environment.

Can I delete a file from a document sharing zone?

No. Once a file has been shared, you can't delete it from a sharing zone.

Will the files in a document sharing zone stay there forever?

No. A document sharing zone can be accessed until the expiration date indicated in the zone. After that, you can no longer access the zone, add documents to it or view the documents that were in it.

We recommend downloading any documents shared by your advisor right away and saving a copy.
