Desjardins has a long tradition of involvement with local youth. This is why Caisse populaire Desjardins des Ramées is so enthusiastic about the concerted effort being made by all Desjardins components toward youth outreach.

Financial education program

Are you between 16 and 25? Want to take charge of your finances and make sound decisions as a consumer, student or worker?

Personal Finance: I'm in Charge™ is just what you're looking for. You'll learn more about things that matter to you, such as:

• consumer choices
• cellphones
• education and work
• budgets
• financial services

Thanks to the collaboration of your caisse, free 2-hour group workshops are offered by community partners or educational institutions of the region.

We take a dynamic approach that gets you involved. You'll interact through a variety of hands-on activities and exercises.

Young Intern Director Program

The Desjardins Young Intern Director Program allows young people, aged 18 to 30, to contribute to the overall performance of their caisse by serving on the board of directors, without necessarily being elected. A number of young people have taken part in our Young Intern Director Program in recent years. This year, we're pleased to have Érica Gaudet and Vincent Landry attend our board meetings.

If you'd like to get involved and have a say in the direction of our caisse, please let us know.

Scholarships

True to its cooperative values, the caisse continues to support education this year by awarding scholarships of $750 to $1,250 to 20 young caisse members. Through these scholarships, which will total $20,000 in 2024, the caisse helps students meet their goals and contributes to their academic success.

The caisse continues to financially support many projects and organizations that aim to help young people build their future, such as Fondation Madeli-Aide and Groupe persévérance scolaire.

Caisse populaire Desjardins des Ramées also contributes to Desjardins Foundation, which awards over $500,000 in scholarships each year.

School caisse

To help introduce children to sound savings habits at an early age, Caisse populaire Desjardins des Ramées actively supports the educational school caisse program at the Saint-Pierre (La Vernière), Stella-Maris (Fatima), aux Iris (Bassin) and Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur (Grande-Entrée) schools.
