Youth

Caisse Desjardins de L'Île-d'Orléans has a long tradition of involvement with local youth. This is why it's so enthusiastic about the massive concerted effort being made by all Desjardins components toward youth outreach.

Over the past few years, the caisse has created various projects to help teach younger members about finances and support their personal or professional projects.

The caisse also contributes to the Desjardins Foundation, which gives back to the community every year by awarding scholarships and prizes through schools and organizations as well as donations to partner organizations.

Scholarship program

The caisse is proud to support its young members in their studies through its scholarship program.

This year, the caisse awarded 21 scholarships, totalling $17,000, in the following categories:

  • 5 scholarships of $500 for high school students
  • 1 scholarship of $750 for vocational school students
  • 5 scholarships of $750 for CEGEP students
  • 8 scholarships of $1,000 for university students
  • 1 jury favourite scholarship of $1,000
  • 1 scholarship of $1,000 for a student who returned to school

The application period runs from March 1 to 31 every year. The winners are announced during the summer and an awards night is held in the fall.

The next application period will be in March 2024. Until then, you can get ready by creating a profile on the Desjardins scholarship application platform. Once you've created your profile, you'll automatically be notified when we start accepting applications.

School Caisse

In order to help introduce children to sound savings habits at an early age, the caisse actively supports educational School Caisse services at several local schools.

Personal Finance: I'm in charge

Since 2013, our financial literacy program, Personal Finance: I'm in Charge® has taught young people how to make sound consumer choices and manage their finances confidently. The caisse offers the workshops together with our partner organization Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Montmorency (site in French only).
