Involvement in the community

Your caisse supports local and regional initiatives in various areas (education, health and healthy lifestyle, arts and culture, cooperation, economic development, community services). In 2018, the caisse awarded $30,000 in donations and sponsorships to 50 local organizations.

The Community Development Fund serves to redistribute a portion of the cooperative's surplus earnings to the community. Following a proposal by the board of directors, during the annual general meeting, members decide what portion of the surplus earnings will be paid into the community fund. Through their caisse, members can support causes that are important to them.

Members who sit on the board of directors manage the community fund. Every year, they report on the fund at the annual general meeting.

At the 2019 Annual General Meeting, the members of Caisse Desjardins du Lac-Memphrémagog agreed to contribute $227,000 to the Community Development Fund.

Caisse Desjardins du Lac-Memphrémagog launched Escouade D in June, 2010. The squad is made up of caisse employees and managers who volunteer at non-profit organization events. With Escouade D, the caisse hopes to help causes and organizations that depend primarily on volunteers. The year 2018 was a very busy one for Escouade D. The employees and officers who took part in the squad donated 520 hours of their time to 20 different projects throughout the area served by Caisse du Lac-Memphrémagog.

• La partie d'huîtres du Carrefour du Partage
• Le Souper du partage - Jean Pelchat
• Le Grand bazar de Stanstead
• Le TriMemphré
• Panier de Noël (assembly and delivery)
