About the caisse

The mission of the Caisse populaire Desjardins de Saint-Raymond—Sainte- Catherine is to contribute to the economic and social well-being of the people and organizations in its community, within its scope of concern, by:

• Providing a permanent, top-notch, competitive, profitable and customized financial services offer that meets the needs of member-owners.
• Educating members, officers and employees about democracy, economics, solidarity, and individual and collective responsibility.

Today's Caisse populaire Desjardins de Saint-Raymond–Sainte-Catherine is the result of the merger of the Caisse Saint-Léonard-de-Portneuf , the Caisse de Saint-Raymond , the Caisse de Rivière-à-Pierre , the Caisse de Sainte-Christine-d'Auvergne, in 2000 and the Caisse populaire Sainte-Catherine, in 2007.

It was founded in 1934 by Lucien Rivard Dufresne.

The Caisse populaire de St-Raymond was founded in September 1934. Like most of the caisses in its county, it was founded following a conference given by abbé Turmel, an active promoter of the Desjardins Group. On November 14, 1934, the first Caisse populaire counter was installed in dentist Lucien Dufresne's house. Since Mr. Dufresne's job as caisse manager was unremunerated, he continued to work as a dentist.

In 1976, the current Caisse location was inaugurated; it has since expanded several times and was recently renovated.

Another milestone was the merger of the Sainte-Christine d'Auvergne, Saint-Léonard and Rivière-à-Pierre caisses with the Saint-Raymond caisse in 2000. On January 1, 2007, the Caisse merged with the Caisse populaire Sainte-Catherine. The name of this new financial institution is the Caisse populaire Desardins de Saint-Raymond-Sainte-Catherine.
