Conditions of use for Desjardins Insurance digital platforms 

Your privacy is invaluable. That's why we take the protection and confidentiality of personal information you entrust us with very seriously.

You can access secured operations related to the insurance policies you bought from Desjardins Insurance through our Online Services. These services allow you to consult, download and print your home and auto insurance documents, make certain changes to your policies, such as the replacement of your vehicle or adding a driver or another vehicle, and also submit a claim.

Any insurance transactions you carry out in our secure Online Services environment are protected; however, while we use the best security measures available, there is always a risk that your information may be disclosed through no fault on our part.

Any operation pertaining to general insurance carried out with the Online Services offered is recognized as being performed by the actual policyholder. It is therefore up to you to make sure that you are the only person who knows your user ID and password.

When performing an operation related to your general insurance, you are responsible for carefully reading the terms and conditions relative to the processing of your application (conditions, delays, etc.).

If you believe that an error has occurred in the information concerning your general insurance policies, please contact us.

The mobile app lets you log into your account, track claims and do all the transactions that are available through our Online Services. It also gives you access to some useful prevention tools as well as your digital proof of auto insurance.

The mobile app may require periodic updates. You agree that you are responsible for downloading and installing any necessary updates to the app.

You can delete your account in the Desjardins Insurance app at any time. Note that only the app is deleted. You still have access to all your other Online Services. The personal information in your account and your insurance file are kept, according to our retention periods and applicable privacy laws. Removing the Desjardins Insurance app from your phone does not delete your account from the app.

To access Online Services and the mobile app, you must first create a user account. You’ll need to use an email address and create a password.

The information you provide must be accurate, complete and up to date.

You are responsible for protecting your email address and password combination and using it securely. Don’t share your password with anyone. You must also take all reasonable security measures when using Online Services or the app.

You also have a responsibility to notify Desjardins Insurance immediately if there is any unauthorized use of your email address or password, or any security breach of your user account.

If you cancel your policy, your user account will still be available. You’ll still be able to access your insurance documents for up to 7 years and track any claims.

You acknowledge that as well as complying with these Conditions of use, you must comply with the Apple App Store or Google Play terms of use, as applicable.

You also acknowledge that as well as complying with these Conditions of use, you must comply with the terms of use for the Ajusto^® and/or Radar^TM programs, as applicable.

Deactivating your user account will not cancel your insurance policy or coverage. You can reactivate your account at any time.

If you deactivate your user account, you could lose access to our digital platforms, especially if you use the same email address and password to access multiple digital services. Your Ajusto trips may no longer be recorded and you could lose any favourable adjustment to your premium.

We may terminate these Conditions of use and delete your user account if you fail to comply with these Conditions of use. We may also suspend your account for a set period of time.

If we delete or suspend your account, or if we terminate these Conditions of use, you will not be able to create a new account. If you attempt to bypass this rule, any account you create will be deleted immediately.

We keep personal information associated with your account and your insurance file on record in accordance with our retention periods. To learn more about how we manage your personal information, refer to our Privacy Policy.

You can get a quote for home and auto insurance, or buy an insurance policy, on some of our digital platforms.

You may not use these digital platforms for other purposes.

Only persons who can validly enter into a contract under applicable laws may use our digital platforms.

You may not use any robot, spider (crawler), site search or extraction application, or any other manual or automatic technology or process to retrieve, index or mine data relating to the site or its content, or to reproduce or circumvent in any way the navigational structure or presentation of the site or its content.

You may not reverse engineer, decompile, alter, modify, reproduce or copy the website or the application, or any algorithm, system, tool, model or technological component accessible through them, including any pricing algorithm. Also, you may not attempt to derive the source code, data, logic or operation thereof.

To ensure that you benefit from the coverage you have selected, it's important that you declare all known circumstances that may influence our decision to provide you with insurance, our assessment of the risk and our calculation of your premium.

If you purchase your insurance policy online, you must also provide information for pre-authorized or credit card payments. It's important to read the conditions for your chosen payment method and give your consent, if required. You have to make sure the information you provide is accurate and up to date. We reserve the right to not proceed with an online quote or insurance policy purchase at our sole discretion, if the information provided is not accurate or up to date.

Online quotes must be completed individually and are based on the information you provide and a set of standardized assumptions. If we provide you with an online quote, this does not signify that we agree to insure you and it is not a guarantee of insurability. Online quotes are provided on the condition that you meet our underwriting criteria. Quotes are valid for 55 days, as long as the information provided for the quote remains unchanged until the day the insurance policy is issued.

The premium calculated as part of your online quote is an estimate. It is not guaranteed and may change based on additional information you may provide us and coverages you may choose. If you have any additional questions or would like to finalize your insurance purchase by telephone, if applicable, you can contact one of our insurance agents.

Purchasing an insurance policy online is subject to certain underwriting conditions. You may need to contact one of our insurance agents for additional information before finalizing the purchase. In exceptional circumstances, one of our insurance agents may also contact you to get more information after you have purchased your insurance policy.

When available, if you purchase your insurance online, your insurance policy will be based exclusively on the information you provided us. Online quotes, confirmations of insurance and information displayed online do not constitute an insurance policy, nor are they proof of an insurance policy. Your policy will be mailed to you or sent to you electronically, based on your preference.
