Marie-Huguette Cormier - Biography

Executive Vice-President, Human Resources and Communications
In her two-pronged role as Executive Vice-President of Human Resources and Communications, Ms. Cormier oversees the development of human resources practices and strategies to support the caisse network and Desjardins Group business sectors and support functions in achieving their business objectives. On the Communications side, she ensures the alignment and consistency of Desjardins's internal and external communications.
Ms. Cormier has been with Desjardins Group for nearly 25 years and has played a number of roles, most recently as Senior Vice-President, Marketing, Communications and Cooperation. In 2014, the e-zine Infopresse ranked her as one of the 10 most recognizable personalities in Quebec's communications and marketing industry. She is also the only finalist from the financial industry.
Ms. Cormier represented Canada in fencing at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and at the Seoul Olympics in 1988. She was named Université Laval's female athlete of the year that same year, and received her MBA from that university in 1989.
On top of her more than 30-year commitment to amateur sports, Ms. Cormier also takes an interest in education, health and business. In November 2009, she was named one of Canada's 100 most powerful women by the Women's Executive Network. She was also Chair of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec's Board of Directors in 2011 and 2012, and received the Quebec Business Women's Award in October 2012, in the category of Manager or Professional, Private Enterprise.
