Mortgage fraud occurs when an applicant intentionally provides false, fraudulent or incomplete information to a lender in order to get a mortgage which would otherwise not be granted if the truth would be known, or in order to increase profits from the purchase.

Mortgage fraud includes: declaring a higher income than you actually earn, presenting a false piece of ID, misrepresenting the source of your down payment or giving a false evaluation of the property.
