Features

Important: Regular Accirance and Superior Accirance have been replaced by Accirance Select. However, policies signed before March 26, 2012 remain in force. Learn more about Accirance Select.

Regular Accirance

Regular Accirance provides comprehensive accident coverage1. Benefits are paid:

  • in case of accidental death
  • in case of dismemberment or loss of use
  • in case of fracture
  • in case of non-accidental death (for insureds older than 14 days, but under 25 years)
  • for some hospital and paramedical expenses
  • for some dental expenses
  • for some transportation and accommodation expenses
  • for some expenses related to education
  • to compensate for the loss of summer employment for students aged 16 or older who become totally disabled

Superior Accirance

Superior Accirance provides all the advantages of Regular Accirance, but includes 4 times the benefit amount in case of:

  • fracture
  • death
  • dismemberment or loss of use
  • disappearance of an insured child

Hospital and paramedical coverage

The insurer reimburses certain expenses incurred for an insured as a result of an accident such as a hospital room, nursing care, drugs and emergency transportation.

These reimbursements are subject to limits.

Dental care coverage

When an insured receives dental care following an accident, the insurer reimburses the expenses incurred:

  • to replace or treat a healthy and natural tooth (up to $400)
  • to repair or replace a denture (up to $400)

Transportation and accommodation coverage

The insurer reimburses the transportation and accommodation expenses incurred as a result of an accident to undergo treatment.

The treatment must not be available within 50 km of the insured's home. The 50 km distance is based on a one-way trip only. The insurance also covers the reasonable expenses of an accompanying person.

The maximum reimbursement is $1,000 per accident.

Coverage for educational costs

The insurer reimburses the expenses for private tutoring, school transportation, re-orientation and tuition fees incurred for an insured student who has become totally disabled due to an accident.

These reimbursements are subject to limits.

Monthly benefit payable during school holidays

If, as a result of an accident that occurs during the school year, an insured student aged 16 or older is totally disabled during the summer vacation period, the insurer will pay them a monthly benefit. This benefit compensates for the loss of summer employment.

The maximum benefit is $850 a month, less any benefit payable by a government board or body.
