Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to respect the physical distancing measures introduced to limit the spread of the virus, Desjardins asked its caisses to postpone their annual general meetings.
In January 2020, Caisse Desjardins des Sources invited all non-profit organizations, that are caisse members and located on its territory, to submit a project as part of the Projet COOP D program. Selected initiatives had to be presented to and voted on by members at the annual general meeting.
A survey on Accès D made it possible for Caisse Desjardins des Sources members to vote on community initiatives. A total of $12,000 was allocated.
Selected projects:
Create a "judo party space" equipped with judo gear for initiation, a crash-landing mat, body opponent bags, a sound system, lighting effects, screens and tablets to make sports exhibitions more energetic and interactive. It'll be used, for example, to promote and demonstrate the sport at schools, galas, completions and special courses. The “party space” will be important to the organization's continued development and used for years to come.
The purpose of this project is to ensure the sustainability of the Chorale intergénérationnelle des Sources. The choir brings people of all ages together and helps break that feeling of isolation seniors often experience. The choir performs in seniors' residences and puts on a concert at the end of the year.
The goal of this project if to set up a daycare service run by parents for the junior kindergarten kids (4 years old) of École Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in Saint-Adrien. The parents will take turns, based on their availability, minding the kids after school.
The AREQ wants to purchase a trailer and add a hydraulic system to it. Volunteers will be able to use the modified trailer to load a spreader and avoid having to do this painstaking task themselves.
At the 2019 AGM, Caisse Desjardins des Sources members voted on which community initiatives should benefit from COOP D Project funds. A total of $12,000 was awarded.
Here are the selected projects:
Cuisine amitié de la MRC des Sources – Valorisation alimentaire des Sources 2.0 – $5,000This project strives to fight food waste and move towards zero waste by: transforming unsold food; recovering food approaching expiry dates; and choosing ugly produce and surplus market garden crops in our area. The organization really needs space to refrigerate large amounts of food and also to freeze cooked meals.
The Health Brigade offers healthy eating and food handling workshops for children aged 3 to 12 in the RCM's daycares and schools. Kids discover new foods by handling, cooking and tasting them in fun workshops. They also learn how to properly use common kitchen tools.
With this project, the Société de développement hopes to improve kitchen efficiency at the various events and activities that take place in the community hall. Organizations use the kitchen to prepare benefit dinners, collective kitchens, etc. In the summer, kids from the summer camp cook there every week. As well, the Emergency Measures Committee uses the room and kitchen during disaster to help the people of Saint-George.

The project aims to combat food waste by using food processing to achieve zero waste.
The project aims to establish an odd job service for people aged 65 and over and people with reduced autonomy, to help them remain in their own homes.
The project aims to develop awareness of mental health problems in youth, more specifically anxiety, among people who work directly with them.
