On September 1, the caisse held its first online special general meeting (SGM) so members could vote on the plan for sharing surplus earnings.

The plan was approved, so $1,052,000 will be returned to caisse members as individual dividends and to the community as collective dividends. In 2019, Caisse Desjardins du Témiscamingue donated $376,000 to support several initiatives, including the Repères program, stay-in-school programs and the Fondation Philippe-Chabot. This strong performance helps the caisse fulfil its mission and remain actively involved in the community.

“This fall, we’ll be giving $812,000 back to members, and putting $240,000 into our Community Development Fund to support important community initiatives. Thanks to our members’ loyalty, we can help improve the economic and social well-being of people and communities,” said caisse chair Normand Gingras.

The caisse's annual general meeting had to be postponed in the spring because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the outstanding collaboration of various teams throughout Desjardins Group, over 200 caisses were able to hold online SGMs between August 16 and September 17 in order to pay out member dividends totalling more than $317 million.

Caisse Desjardins du Témiscamingue is pleased to account for the administration of your financial services cooperative in 2019.
