This team is recognized for its competence and professionalism. It commits to doing everything possible to make the Caisse its members' first choice of financial institution to meet their needs and expectations. And it commits to doing so with a cooperative difference.

Today's Caisse populaire Desjardins Mer et montagnes is the result of the merger of the Caisse populaire Desjardins Sainte-Madeleine in 1998, and Mont-Louis, Mont-Saint-Pierre and Murdochville, in 2001.

It was founded in 1924 by Alexis Bujold, prêtre.

Vallée was founded. Several community members felt the need to group together to help develop Grande-Vallée. So these citizens, headed by Alexis Bujold, the local priest, invited Abbé J.A. St-Laurent, a representative of the Union Régionale des caisses populaires de Gaspé, to come to Grande-Vallée. He arrived on October 21 and helped found the Caisse populaire de Saint-François-Xavier de la Grande-Vallée.
