A long-term commitment

Desjardins has made a long-term commitment to communities affected by the floods.

“We can't be indifferent to the hardships that many are facing right now. We know there's a lot of work to be done until life goes back to normal for the flood victims. In the spirit of solidarity, we're committed to helping volunteers organize cleanup efforts in the coming weeks, in areas targeted by the Red Cross,” explained Guy Cormier, President and CEO of Desjardins Group.

“We'll also be freeing up full-time employees for a month to lend a hand and provide expertise in human resources. I encourage all the employees of our cooperative group to be generous in giving their time to those who need it,” he added.

In addition to the basic coverage included in your home insurance policy, you may have optional coverage for sewer back-ups, seepage or influx of water through basement walls or the roof, or flood damage.

Desjardins will give policyholders priority when processing claims and, if needed, provide support with applications for compensation from government programs.

Tailored solutions for our members

Desjardins has customized solutions to provide financial relief to members and help them through this difficult period. These include:

  • Deferred payments on mortgage or consumer loans for up to 6 months.
  • Option of deferring credit card and Accord D financing plan payments (up to 6 months) and restructuring financing at attractive terms.
  • Option of deferring home and auto insurance payments (up to 6 months).
  • Emergency loans to cover cleaning, security and other costs.

Specific measures for business members are also available. These include:

  • Option of deferring credit card and Accord D financing plan payments (up to 6 months).
  • Option of deferring commercial property and liability and commercial vehicle insurance payments (up to 6 months).
  • Option of negotiating customized agreements based on company needs.

Desjardins Group has teamed up with the Canadian Red Cross and made a donation of $100,000 to provide community support and relief for flood victims in several areas.

Desjardins calls on its members, clients and the general public to make a donation to the Red Cross through its network of caisses in Quebec and Ontario.
