Your participation to the Eco-friendly Statement Challenge made the difference.

At the close of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 editions of the Eco-friendly Statement Challenge, a grand total of 141,764 members have taken the challenge, proving how popular it is.

As a result, a total of 141,764 trees will be planted, i.e. 142% of the triennial objective. We want to thank every Desjardins member for this most impressive response.

Through the challenge, Desjardins will have replanted the equivalent of 179 football fields. Furthermore, with 141,764 members switching to the online statement, we will save 7 million sheets of paper each year.

Earth Day

Our Earth Day commitment

As an active partner of the Earth Day program, Desjardins has agreed to help slow climate change by planting 100,000 trees by the end of 2009.

The 141,764 trees that will be planted will absorb nearly 475 tons of greenhouse gases (GHGs) from the atmosphere each yea. Planting the trees will also reforest regions, improve wildlife habitats and beautify landscapes.

Tree planting projects

Submit a tree planting project to Earth Day. To address environmental issues or reach specific social objectives, planting projects may also include shrubs, if necessary.
