Are you between 16 and 25? Do you have questions about your finances?

Personal Finance: I'm in Charge® is just what you're looking for!

You'll learn more about things that matter to you, such as:

  • budgeting: how does it work?
  • living in an apartment: key considerations
  • the labour market: your rights and responsibilities
  • credit: how to get the most out of it
  • saving: is it possible?

Thanks to the collaboration of the caisse, free 2-hour group workshops are offered by community partners or educational institutions of the region.

We take a dynamic approach that gets you involved. You'll interact through a variety of hands-on activities and exercises.

Want to find out more? Just contact one of our regional partners.

School caisse

The school caisse aims to help young people become independent, responsible and skilled at managing their savings. To help introduce children to sound savings habits at an early age, Caisse Desjardins de la Région de Saint-Hyacinthe provides this educational service in many Saint-Hyacinthe elementary schools.

Student caisse: a project for students and schools

A student caisse is a mini Desjardins caisse in a high school. It is managed and administered uniquely by volunteer students. The caisse services are intended exclusively for the students and their associations. A student caisse operates under the authority and supervision of a local Desjardins caisse.

The student is the sole account owner and is in charge of the account. No adult authorization is required for a student to enrol in the student caisse and carry out transactions.

Benefits for students:

  • Enhancing their knowledge and enabling them to gain hands-on experience in terms of learning about cooperation, economics, finance and administration
  • Providing them with the experience of a group project for which they are responsible

Benefits for schools:

  • Enhancing the students' experience in terms of learning about cooperation, economics, finance and administration
  • Enriching their student life through a group project
  • Offering financial services tailored to students

We are pleased to have the local PolyCaisse school caisse at Polyvalente Hyacinthe-Delorme in Saint-Hyacinthe.

On August 21, 2018, we awarded 37 scholarships worth a total of $42,000 to young caisse members. We wish them and all our students members a great 2018–2019 school year and the best of success in their studies.

The entry period for the 2019–2020 scholarship draw should start in May 2019. Keep an eye on our site to make sure you don't miss it.

Youth advisor

With the goal of meeting the needs of its young members, Caisse Desjardins de la Région de Saint-Hyacinthe has 3 youth member services advisors on hand, Pascale Des Ormeaux, Valérie Gamache and Geneviève Gauthier. They are exclusively dedicated to young members in school as well as those who recently joined the workforce.

They provide the following services to young members:

  • If they need money to pay for their studies or make a major purchase, she recommends the right financing tools for their projects.
  • If they want to fulfill a dream, take a trip or save for a down payment on their first home or condo, she recommends the best savings strategies.
  • If they are looking for advice on developing a repayment plan, she gives them tips on how to reduce their debts and helps them build a good credit file.
  • If they want to draw up a budget and learn more about finance, she teaches them about the various ways to protect and grow their assets.

Young Intern Officer program

To pave the way for new officers, the Caisse has been participating for several years now in the Young Intern Officer program. An internship on the Board of Directors gives you a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience.
