Young Intern Officer

To pave the way for dynamic new officers, the Caisse has been participating for several years now in the Young Intern Officer Program. An internship on the Board of Directors gives you a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience and see that your opinions are taken into consideration to better serve members.

Fais ta place scholarship program

In 2013, 7 Desjardins caisses in the Sud-Ouest de la Montérégie area launched a major scholarship program to support youth in their pursuit of academic excellence.

A total of $100,000 was awarded to vocational, CEGEP and university students. To be eligible, students had to be members of one of the following caisses at the time of the draw:

  • Caisse populaire Beauharnois

Caisse populaire Desjardins du Haut-Saint-Laurent also contributes to Desjardins Foundation, which awards over $500,000 in scholarships each year.

School caisse

To help introduce children to sound savings habits at an early age, the Caisse actively supports the educational school caisse services at the following schools:

  • Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, Ormstown
  • Ormstown Elementary
  • École Centrale, Saint-Antoine Abbé
  • Franklin Elementary, Franklin
  • École Montpetit, Saint-Chrysostome
  • Howick Elementary, Howick
  • École Saint-Jean, Howick
  • École Notre-Dame, Huntingdon
  • École primaire Académie, Huntingdon
  • École Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka
  • École des Jeunes-Riverains, Saint-Anicet.

If students make 7 deposits or more over the year, they receive youth dividends in the amount of $10, which are deposited directly to their accounts. This way we reward them for their effort and promote their sense of responsibility.

Educational lectures

Several lectures have been offered to young people in our area to help them pursue their financial education. One of our youth advisors, Marie-Eve Leblanc, gave the lectures at Nouvelle École de Beauharnois and Maison des jeunes de Beauharnois. The goal of the lectures was to raise young people's awareness of savings, credit, automation, and most of all, the importance of making a budget.

Student caisse

Caisse Desjardins du Haut-Saint-Laurent is proud to announce the opening of a cooperative enterprise of financial services, operated entirely by student volunteers from Chateauguay Valley Regional High School.

By and for students

The student caisse is a project managed and run by the students. It provides financial services for the school's students and staff. In addition, the student caisse:

  • introduces students to sound savings habits
  • provides an enriching experience
  • helps students develop skills related to the running of a board of directors of a cooperative enterprise

The student caisse is a financial cooperative whose mission is to foster savings habits among its members, provide basic services such as deposits and withdrawals and promote cooperation in the community.

Another example of how Caisse Desjardins du Haut-Saint-Laurent gets involved in the community, the student caisse is a unifying project that will certainly have a positive impact on the school environment.
