The Caisse populaire d'Alfred was founded on March 28, 1944 by Father Hermas Laniel. The first chair of the caisse's Board of Directors was Armand Langevin, and the first general manager of the caisse was Lucien Lalande (manager at the time).
The caisse began serving its members from offices located in Alfred's agricultural cooperative. The Caisse populaire d'Alfred now has a head office in Alfred and a service centre in Bourget to serve 5,866 members.
Quality of service is the main focus of the Caisse populaire d'Alfred. In 2006, the caisse took action to meet its members' needs even more efficiently. For example, the counters of the head office and the Bourget Service Centre were modified to provide better confidentiality, caisse employees and management regularly discuss service quality, and the entire caisse staff is aware of the advantages of the cooperative formula and will be glad to inform members about the difference between their caisse populaire and other financial institutions.
