The mission of Caisse Desjardins de la Région de Saint-Hyacinthe is:

  • to provide all its members with quality financial services and ensure they receive concrete financial benefits and considerate service
  • to contribute to their cooperative, economic and financial education
  • to promote cooperation and community development

Today's Caisse Desjardins de la Région de Saint-Hyacinthe is the result of the merger of Caisse Desjardins de Saint-Hyacinthe and Caisse Desjardins de la Vallée des Patriotes in  2017.

Presence in the Maskoutain area

On November 15, 1927, 16 founding members created the first caisse populaire in the Maskoutain area: Caisse populaire de Saint-Hyacinthe. Some 20 years later, it had 2,000 members and close to $650,000 in assets.

Between 1937 and 1945, new caisses were founded in the surrounding areas: Caisse populaire de Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu, Caisse populaire de Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin, Caisse populaire de La Présentation, Caisse populaire de Sainte-Rosalie, Caisse populaire de Saint-Bernard-de-Michaudville and Caisse populaire de Saint-Barnabé-Sud.

In 1948, Caisse populaire de La Providence opened its doors, followed by Caisse populaire de Dessaulles in 1951, Caisse populaire de St-Joseph de Saint-Hyacinthe in 1956 and Caisse populaire de Bourg-Joli in 1957. In 1955, Caisse populaire de Saint-Hyacinthe inaugurated a first phase of its head office on the corner of rue Girouard Ouest and avenue Sainte-Anne.

In the 1960s, the 4 last caisses in the Saint-Hyacinthe area were founded: Caisse populaire de Douville in 1960, Caisse populaire de Saint-Jude and Caisse populaire de Sainte-Madeleine in 1961 and Caisse populaire de Morin in 1967.

Early technological innovations

The following decades saw the arrival of new technology. As of 1972, Caisse populaire de Saint-Hyacinthe members' transactions were carried out by the caisses' integrated system. The first ATM started operating on June 15, 1983. In 1996, AccèsD Internet services were available to members. Your caisse is now available anywhere, any time.

Mergers

In the 2000s, local caisses initiated a merger plan that resulted in 2009 with the creation of Caisse Desjardins de Saint-Hyacinthe which, in 2017, merged with Caisse Desjardins de la Vallée des Patriotes to form Caisse Desjardins de la Région de Saint-Hyacinthe. On January 1, 2019, Caisse Desjardins de la Région de Saint-Hyacinthe merged with the caisses Desjardins de Val-Maska and Du Plateau maskoutain.

Today, Caisse Desjardins de la Région de Saint-Hyacinthe has 71,000 members, more than $2.8 billion in assets and a business volume of $6.4 billion.
