To fulfill its mission, the Caisse educates its members, officers and employees about democracy, solidarity and individual and collective responsibility.
Working within the largest cooperative financial group in Canada, the seasoned team of officers, managers and employees of the Caisse Desjardins de Charlesbourg is committed to offering first class specialized services: a friendly and personalized approach that means being there for members at every stage of their financial lives.
On May 25, 1911, Alphonse Desjardins ended his speech with this: "I will always hold a special place in my heart for my Charlesbourg caisse and I hope the future brings it exponential success, progress and expansion."
One hundred years later we can look back and see his hope was realized during the Caisse's first century of existence. The little savings and credit cooperative became a great financial services cooperative providing a complete range of financial products and services. It has developed and transformed in step with its community.
Founded in a rural parish with some 2,000 residents, the Caisse Desjardins de Charlesbourg was at first mainly used for savings and credit related to farming operations. Over the past century, the small village has become a very urban zone with over 70,000 residents.
Our cooperative's members use its specialized savings services, including portfolio diversification and retirement planning, as well as credit services like mortgages and commercial credit.
After more than 100 years, the Caisse is still a cooperative in both the way it operates and the way it relates to its members. And it remains a driving force for local economy today.
