About the caisse

Caisse Desjardins de Chibougamau was founded on June 6, 1964, in keeping with the principles and philosophy of Alphonse Desjardins.

The founders decided to join forces to create their own financial institution and take control of their collective future.

Caisse Desjardins de Chibougamau is a financial cooperative that is firmly rooted in the community. Its mission is to contribute to improving the economic and social well-being of people and communities within the limits of its field of activity. It continually supports the development of an integrated cooperative network of secure and profitable financial services. The caisse is owned and administered by its members and belongs to a network of complementary financial organizations with competitive returns controlled by members. The caisse's mission also includes educating people, particularly members, directors and employees, about democracy, economics, solidarity, and individual and collective responsibility.

More than 50 years later, Caisse Desjardins de Chibougamau has $244.5 million in assets, $514.1 million in business volume under management and 7,175 members. This exceptional performance is no accident. Rather, it's the product of the expertise and commitment of our directors, the quality of our services and the professionalism of our employees and partners.

Over the years, our caisse has been able to gain and maintain the trust of the general public and our current success is tangible proof of this. The directors and employees wish to thank all our members for their ongoing support.
