The caisse understands the challenges and issues facing its members. With their support, it can provide its fellow citizens with valuable help regarding initiatives aimed at common betterment and the advancement of society.
Your caisse supports local and regional initiatives in various areas.
The Community Development Fund serves to redistribute a portion of the cooperative's surplus earnings to the community. Following a proposal by the board of directors, during the annual general meeting, members decide what portion of the surplus earnings will be paid into the community fund. Through their caisse, members can support causes that are important to them.
Members who sit on the board of directors manage the community fund. Every year, they report on the fund at the annual general meeting.
In February 2017, our caisse implemented a program to fulfil its role as a socio-economic leader, particularly to support structuring initiatives that meet local needs and respect community opinion.
A consultation of 9 strategic partners helped define the plan for the Community Development Fund over the next 3 years.
At the last Annual General Meeting, members decided that the fund will be used for initiatives that are in line with 2 goals:
Our caisse reacted quickly to work towards these goals.
We are proud to have helped set up the Personal Finance, I'm in Charge program at Cégep de Jonquière. Designed by Desjardins, it's a financial education program for the students that will improve their knowledge of personal finance and help them make enlightened decisions and avoid falling into financial difficulty.
We are equally proud to have contributed to Marathonariat collectif, a new initiative that gives college and university students the opportunity to experience an intensive entrepreneurial process and stimulate their business ideas.
A total of $91,353 was given in 2017.
|Humanitarian aid and community services||$32,296|
|Health and healthy lifestyles||$15,266|
|Arts and culture||$7,850|
At the caisse, we strive to focus on members first in everything we do and we're driven by the values of mutual assistance and solidarity. Next week, for every new account that is opened, we'll donate $10 to the organization chosen at the Annual General Meeting on April 16, 2018. At next year's meeting in 2019, La Maison d'hébergement S.O.S. Jeunesse will receive what we've collected. Congratulations!
