Involvement in the community

The caisse understands the challenges and issues facing its members. With their support, it can provide its fellow citizens with valuable help regarding initiatives aimed at common betterment and the advancement of society.

Every year, your caisse supports numerous community, local and regional initiatives that promote values associated with cooperation, education, health care, healthy lifestyles, economic development, culture, humanitarian efforts, community services and the integration of immigrants.

Caisse Desjardins de Bois-Franc—Bordeaux—Cartierville is proud to support local organizations and community-led projects, therefore helping to strengthen the social fabric of the community.

At the Annual General Meeting held each April, Caisse members can choose to redistribute a portion of surplus earnings for each financial year in the form of donations and sponsorships. Over the years, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been reinvested in the local and regional community.

Significant development projects were also carried out through contributions from the Community Development Fund. Find out more about community development - This link will open in a new window..

The Caisse has a help fund that serves to redistribute a portion of the cooperative's surplus earnings to the community. Following a proposal by the Board of Directors, members decide, during the Annual General Meeting, what portion of the surplus earnings will be paid into the help fund. With the help of their caisse, members can support causes that are important to them.

The members who sit on the Board of Directors manage the help fund. Every year, they report on the fund during the Annual General Meeting.

Desjardins makes available a $100 million fund for outlying areas.
