Involvement in the community

The caisse understands the challenges and issues facing its members. With their support, it can provide its fellow citizens with valuable help regarding initiatives aimed at common betterment and the advancement of society.

The commitment of Caisse Desjardins de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

Caisse Desjardins de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce is upholding its involvement in the community by contributing to the well-being of its residents by putting money to work for its development.

By working together, caisse officers, managers and employees strive to bolster cooperative values within our community.

Among its many activities, Caisse Desjardins de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce contributes to various projects through its donation and sponsorship program.

We encourage you to read the Donation and Sponsorship Policy and to submit your project using the form below.

Your caisse supports several local and regional initiatives that promote the economic development, health, the environment, education, arts and culture as well as sports and leisure.

The Caisse is proud to support local organizations and community-led projects.

The Community Development Fund is tangible proof of the Caisse's involvement in its community. The Act respecting financial services cooperatives allows Caisses to establish and maintain a community development fund using their annual surplus. Officers work hard to target the needs of our area.

LGBT Desjardins Facebook page launched

On May 31, 2012, your caisse participated in the launch of the LGBT Desjardins Facebook page, an initiative of the LGBT Committee and logical next step to the diversity campaign launched in October by the same committee. The page was launched to ensure the presence of Desjardins in the LGBT communities and maintain a dialog with them.

The page provides privileged access to these communities along with information and advice. It also showcases committee partners and their activities.

Friends of the LGBT cause with a Facebook page are invited to "like" and share the LGBT Desjardins page to support diversity in the workplace.

We hope many of you will follow us!

Caisses that stand together for diversity: LGBT ad campaign

October 2011 - Caisses serving the Montreal downtown and Centre-Ouest mico-markets, along with Caisse populaire Préfontaine-Hochelaga and Caisse De Lorimier-Villeray in eastern Montreal, participated over several months in initiatives aimed at the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, primarily by creating an internal LGBT Committee and sponsoring key events in these communities.

Despite these significant endeavours, the caisses wanted to do even more: recognize freedom of gender expression in the workplace. They joined the Pride At Work movement to concretely recognize the freedom on gender expression of their own employees, managers and officers.

To go further still, the 10 caisses decided to launch an external ad campaign to show their openness, commitment and support toward the LGBT community.

Campaign goals

  1. Create a sense of belonging and pride in participating caisses.
  2. Strengthen the position of the 10 caisses in the LGBT community.
  3. Showcase LGBT activities to members.
  4. Provide a testimonial to show that LGBT people are recognized and that their skills are what is most important.

Here is the result of their collective work, a great example of inter-caisse cooperation and commitment to community. The posters are displayed in all participating caisses.

Through their involvement, caisses serving the micro-market as well as Caisse populaire Préfontaine-Hochelaga and Caisse Desjardins De Lorimier-Villeray are proud to be partners of Fondation Émergence and to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community projects in Montreal.

Pay It Forward committee: a special initiative by our Caisse employees!

The Pay It Forward committee is an initiative by employees of the Caisse populaire Desjardins de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. The committee's actions are based on cooperative values and draw their inspiration from the Caisse's involvement in the community through its Community Development Fund. Its mission is to contribute to community well-being:
  • by engaging employees to participate in volunteer and fund-raising activities
  • by supporting both individuals and community and humanitarian organizations located primarily in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce area

"The Pay It Forward committee takes personal commitment from all members of the Caisse team, and we are very proud of it," says Robert McQuillen, committee president.

Caisse staff supports the NDG Food Depot

On November 30, 2013, the enthusiastic Caisse populaire Desjardins de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce team participated in the NDG Food Depot's big food drive.

Moreover, Caisse staff donated $1,500 to the Depot through its Pay It Forward committee to help the Depot carry out its mission.
