The Community Development Fund serves to redistribute a portion of the cooperative's surplus earnings to the community. Following a proposal by the board of directors, during the annual general meeting, members decide what portion of the surplus earnings will be paid into the community fund. Through their caisse, members can support causes that are important to them.
Members who sit on the board of directors manage the community fund. Every year, they report on the fund at the annual general meeting.
The caisse's Community Development Fund provides financial support for new or ongoing key projects that help create economic, social, cultural and community wealth for individuals and communities in its territory.

Caisse Desjardins des Etchemins is partnering with the Rotobec Sainte-Justine company to organize a major benefit show featuring local artists.
All profits generated by the event, which will take place at the École des Appalaches auditorium, will be donated to a child with health problems.
The first Le Show Business des Etchemins, in 2013, raised $7,200 for little Gabrielle Audet, who has Prader-Willi syndrome. The event was again a success in 2015, allowing young Ryan Bussières, who has autism, fragile x syndrome and dyspraxia, to receive the $11,000 raised. As for the fall 2016 show on behalf of little Daphnée Vachon who has a severe form of autism and a moderate intellectual disability, a record sum of $14,858 was raised.
Le Show Business des Etchemins is special because all the artists perform for free. As a result, all profits are donated to the selected beneficiary.
Since 2012, Caisse Desjardins des Etchemins employees, local Filles d'Isabelle and Knights of Colombus together with Fondation Sac-O-Dos and L'Essentiel des Etchemins, make it possible for each child in the area served by Caisse Desjardins des Etchemins to get a Christmas present they wish for.
Children ages 15 and under from families living below poverty level are invited to write 3 things they'd like to receive on a Christmas ornament, which is then hung on 1 of 9 Christmas trees set up in Caisse Desjardins des Etchemins service centres.
The general public can then select an ornament and purchase one of the items to give as a gift for the child. “The idea behind the project is to join forces for the children's well-being,” said Joan Gagnon and Guylaine Tanguay, Caisse Desjardins des Etchemins employees and originators of the Sapin-cadeaux project. “We're pleased that organizations join together for the cause and work together from a regional perspective.”
To take part in the project, parents of needy children should Claire Bouchard at L'Essentiel des Etchemins at 418-625-4112.
