The Caisse has a help fund that serves to redistribute a portion of the cooperative's surplus earnings to the community. Following a proposal by the Board of Directors, members decide, during the Annual General Meeting, what portion of the surplus earnings will be paid into the help fund. With the help of their caisse, members can support causes that are important to them.

The members who sit on the Board of Directors manage the help fund. Every year, they report on the fund during the Annual General Meeting.

In 2018, members of Caisse Desjardins de la Nouvelle-Acadie agreed to contribute $50,000 to the Community Development Fund.

Help fund recipients

Ruisseau Vacher watershed

We decided to focus on water quality, a source of life that directly affects our health. The Caisse, in partnership with local stakeholders, made a commitment to protect the ruisseau Vacher watershed. The Caisse allocated $200,000 over 5 years through the Community Development Fund. The contribution helped fill the void left by existing programs, revitalize riverbanks and provide residential subsidies to allow over 250 homeowners to upgrade their sanitary facilities across the 2 municipalities we serve.

Fabrique de la paroisse Notre-dame-de-l'Acadie

The caisse contributed a total of $8,419 to this biomass heating project last year.

Revitalization of Rue Principale

Together with the municipality, the caisse has committed to making a contribution to shop owners who renovate their storefront with respect to the Site Planning and Architectural Integration Program (PIIA).
