The Voyageurs Credit Union (Sudbury, Oshawa, Toronto, Mississauga, Midland) came as the result of a merger between the Caisse populaire Nolin de Sudbury and the Caisse populaire Lasalle. Members of both institutions voted in favour of the merger in June 2008. The Caisse populaire des Voyageurs's name refers to the Route des Voyageurs, a large network of waterways used by Samuel de Champlain, fur traders and missionaries.

The Caisse populaire Nolin came as a result of the merger of the caisses St-Jean-de-Brébeuf and Ste-Anne in 2001. The Caisse de Ste-Anne was founded by Roméo Dignard in 1945, while the Caisse St-Jean-de-Brébeuf was founded by Omer Legault in 1949.

As for the Caisse populaire Lasalle, it came as a merger of the caisses populaires Lafontaine Limitée and Lasalle inc. in 2004. The Caisse populaire Lafontaine Limitée was founded in 1942 and the Caisse populaire Lasalle inc. was founded in 1955.
