Caisse Desjardins du Haut-Saint-Laurent works directly with local high schools to encourage kids in the community to stay in school and introduce them to the job market. To do this, we've implemented a job shadowing internship program for these schools.
Each year, the caisse receives students from Arthur-Pigeon School and Châteauguay Valley High School. Selected students have the opportunity to spend a day at the Caisse Desjardins du Haut-Saint-Laurent head office.
The job shadowing internship in a professional environment lets young people to discover various trades in the cooperative, learn about working conditions, follow company rules and habits, and evolve within a team and work environment.
These internships also help build the interns' professional and interpersonal skills. Integrating in a company also allows them to better orient their career choices.

To help introduce children to sound savings habits at an early age, the caisse actively supports the educational school caisse services at the following schools:
As well, the caisse is proud to encourage primary schools with their projects. We've created a partnership with each one to provide students financial assistance for their innovative projects and in this way contribute to their success and well-being.
In particular, we've supported projects such as the LÜ interactive whiteboard at École des Jeunes-Riverains, restoring Ormstown Elementary School's auditorium chairs and creating the sticker trail at Howick Elementary School.
In 2019, Caisse Desjardins du Haut-Saint-Laurent also donated our office furniture as part of modernizing our distribution network. The value of goods donated to schools is more than $32,000.
Several lectures have been organized for young people in our area to help them pursue their financial education. The goal is to make young people aware of savings, credit, overspending, and most of all, the importance of making a budget.
