[Context: The video clip presents the testimonies of 2 volunteers at Centre d’entraide Contact de Warwick, Jacqueline Verville and Alain Perreault. All voices are offscreen. Background music plays throughout the video.]

[Text on screen: There are beings who justify the world, who help us live just by being there. Quote by Albert Camus.]

[On screen visual: Outside facade of Centre d’entraide Contact de Warwick, where we can see the store sign for the Centre’s thrift shop, L’Économe magasin général. A woman enters the building. Then, we see some volunteers who are sorting out clothes and some who are working in the kitchen and the store.]

Narrator: The Centre now has over 110 dedicated volunteers who help provide services and keep the store running, which provides the organization's primary own-source revenue.

Jacqueline Verville: I come from a big family, and everybody did their bit. In the 1940s, it wasn't a matter of "volunteering." Everyone did their share. At the time, everybody in the family did something.

Narrator: Sometimes, volunteering stems from a deep sense of vocation. And sometimes it gives purpose to life.

[On screen visual: Jacqueline Verville walks across the store and kitchen. Close-up shot of Jacqueline holding a doll, then close-up shot of the doll.]

Jacqueline Verville: A ruptured aneurysm nearly killed me. At age 43, I was at the general hospital in Sherbrooke. Getting healthy again was worth it! The chaplain told me I was a walking miracle!

[On screen visual: Alain Perreault moves hangers on a clothing rack.]

Narrator: Another volunteer living life to the fullest is the friendly Alain.

Alain Perreault: Hi, I'm Alain Perreault from Warwick.

[On screen visual: Close-up shot of Alain’s face, then of his hands sliding the hangers on the clothing rack.]

Narrator: Alain recently got involved at the Centre. His life hasn't always been easy.
A few years ago, health problems prompted him to move to Warwick, where his father lived. He'd found out he had a tumour on his left kidney and needed surgery. Now he's philosophical about it and can laugh.

[On screen visual: Still frame of Alain, standing in the thrift shop, in front of the clothing rack.]

Alain Perreault: At one point, I weighed 220 pounds. I was eating cakes and stuff like that. I'm lucky not to have diabetes or high cholesterol.

[On screen visual: Alain Perreault works in the store.]

Narrator: When we discuss his new status as a volunteer with him, it's clear how much he benefits from being around other people.

[On screen visual: Alain and Jacqueline work together in the store. Then, we see a black and white picture of Alain Perreault smiling.]

Alain Perreault: I'd never done any volunteering. This is good. I'm comfortable with people I didn't know. We enjoy working together.

[On screen visual: Two volunteers sort out clothes in the store. The screen fades to black.]

[Text on screen: Thank you for inspiring those who help and do good.]
