The Bank of Montreal, operating as BMO Financial Group, is one of the Big Five banks in Canada. The company has initiatives in place to reduce its environmental impact. It is upgrading the energy efficiency of its facilities and installing a building automation system to monitor and optimize energy consumption. In addition, the company purchases renewable energy certificates.


BASF SE is the largest chemical company in the world and is headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The company has an energy efficiency program. The program includes a goal of improvement of energy efficiency in production processes by 35% by 2020 from a baseline of 2002. The company achieved a 19.8% improvement by year-end 2013. The company identifies a number of energy efficiency measures.

Cisco Systems

Cisco Systems is an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and sells networking equipment. It must set and monitor their environment related goals. The Company evaluates the impact of its products throughout their life cycle. Their operations focus on energy efficiency and waste reduction which are the main causes of greenhouse gas emissions. Cisco is ISO 140014 certified.


Cummins Inc. designs, manufactures, distributes and services diesel and natural gas engines and engine-related component products. The company has an energy efficiency program. The program focuses on facility improvements, new construction and energy management. Beginning in 2013, the company began incorporating practices and procedures to meet the Energy Management Standard.


Henkel, headquartered in Germany, is a multinational company active both in the consumer and industrial sector (laundry & home care, beauty care, adhesive technologies). Kone Oyj, founded in 1910, is an international engineering and service company employing some 43,000 personnel worldwide. The firm is one of the largest manufacturers of elevators and escalators worldwide, and also provides maintenance services and modernization. It is estimated that more than 90% of the company’s activities have received ISO 14001 certification4. The company sets environmental objectives and targets. They include reducing its carbon footprint and energy consumption.

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton

LVMH is a French multinational luxury goods conglomerate. The company was formed by the 1987 merger of fashion house Louis Vuitton with Moet Hennessy. It controls around 60 subsidiaries that each manage a small number of prestigious brands. The company has extensive reporting on its environmental initiatives and commitments. It has energy efficiency, water management, waste reduction, biodiversity and GHG emission reduction programs.


Michelin distributes, and sells tires worldwide. The company has an energy efficiency program. It states that it aims to achieve a 25% energy efficiency improvement by 2020, based on a 2012 baseline. The company has a water management program and other programs (waste reduction, biodiversity and GHG emission reduction programs).


Pearson is a British multinational publishing and education company headquartered in London. It is the largest education company and the largest book publisher in the world. The company has an energy efficiency program. The program includes installing more efficient lighting, server virtualization, and upgrading videoconferencing equipment to reduce business travel.


RELX Group (known as Reed Elsevier between 1992 and February 2015) is a multinational information and analytics company. It operates in four market segments: scientific, technical and medical; risk and business analytics; legal; and exhibitions. The company has put in place initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of its activities. The company has energy efficiency, water management, biodiversity, waste and GHG emission reduction programs..


Telus Corporation is a Canadian national telecommunications company that provides a wide range of telecommunications products and services including internet access, voice, entertainment, healthcare, video, satellite and IPTV television. The company sets environmental objectives and targets. They include reducing absolute energy consumption by 10% and realizing a 25% reduction in GHG emissions by 2020, based on 2010 levels. Additional targets include reducing paper purchasing by 10% and completing supplier risk assessments.

Texas Instruments Incorporated

Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) is an American company that designs and makes semiconductors, which it sells to electronics designers and manufacturers globally. Headquartered in United States, TI is the third largest manufacturer of semiconductors worldwide. The company has an energy efficiency program which includes reduction of energy costs targets. The energy strategy includes systematic efforts to improve efficiency, manage energy costs, purchase renewable energy and manufacture effective products.

Vodafone Group PLC

Vodafone Group is a British multinational telecommunications company. Among mobile operator groups globally, Vodafone ranked fifth by revenue and second (behind China Mobile) in the number of connections as of 2014. The company has set itself environmental goals and targets. One of them is to reduce GHG emissions by 50% compared to the level of 2007. The company also has water management, energy efficiency and waste reduction programs.

Woolworths LTD

Woolworths Limited is a major Australian company with extensive retail interest throughout Australia and New Zealand. It is the largest retail company in Australia and New Zealand by market capitalisation and sales, and the largest food retailer in Australia and the second largest in New Zealand. The company has an energy efficiency program. It states that it implemented 22 projects in 2013, which reduced electricity usage by 16,022 MWh.
