Step 5 - Sealing the deal and becoming a homeowner

Your sales agreement has been accepted, the property passed inspection, you have obtained your mortgage. The only thing left to do is to sign various documents needed to complete the transaction with your lawyer.

Before the transaction closing date

  • Clients review and sign the various documents needed in the presence of their lawyer.
  • The buyer’s lawyer contacts the caisse to get the mortgage funds in advance.
  • Depending on the adjustment statement, the client who has to cover the adjustments must remit a cheque to their lawyer.

Transaction closure

  • The lawyers agree that the transaction can be completed and all the necessary documents are exchanged and registered electronically.
  • The buyer’s lawyer transfers funds to the seller’s lawyer and the keys are given to the buyer.
