Your child will learn to:

  • how to create—and stick to—a budget for an event
  • that the decisions we make have an effect on our finances

Activity summary

For teens ages 12 to 14

Starting high school means lots of chances to make new acquaintances. Why not use this opportunity to plan a meal with friends at your house?

Having friends over is an excellent way to learn how to create a budget, design and send invitations, prepare food and make good decisions about the number of guests and the menu choices.

At this age, your child is able to make plans, create a budget and evaluate how successful the event was.
