Access to specialists

A priceless bonus

In the event of a critical illness, you'll get preferred access to medical specialists at no extra charge.

  • From the moment your physician suspects you have a critical illness, you have access to Best Doctors®, Inc., a service that enables you to have your medical file reviewed by world-renowned specialists who confirm your diagnosis and the suggested treatment plan. They can also monitor your treatment plan with you and your attending physician for added reassurance.
  • A nurse from Assistel, a leader in telephone assistance, will contact you to help you find the appropriate services, care, providers or information related to your illness (Convalescence Assistance - case management) and offer you psychological support (Psychological Assistance)

As soon as your policy comes into effect, you also have access to the following services provided by Assistel :

Shared ownership

This investment strategy based on shared ownership of a critical illness policy covers both the company and the shareholder in the event that the shareholder becomes critically ill. It allows companies to:

  • Maintain business continuity in the event a shareholder becomes ill
  • Cover the costs of replacing a shareholder if they have to take time off work due to illness

In addition, shareholders who remain in good health can take advantage of a tax-free financial benefit.

How does it work?

  • The company and the shareholder jointly take out a Vision critical illness policy
  • The company and the shareholder split the costs and benefits of the policy
  • Regardless of the outcome, a tax-free benefit is paid:
    • If the shareholder becomes ill: the company receives the critical illness benefit (up to 33 covered illnesses)
    • If the shareholder dies: the company receives the death benefit (25% of the insurance amount or 100% of the insurance costs paid, whichever is greater)
    • If the shareholder remains in good health: that employee receives the health benefit (a tax-free amount worth up to 100% of the insurance costs paid)
