Project description

The goal of this project is to contribute to the country's economic growth by helping create a business environment that facilitates investment, productivity and job creation among Haitian micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

In March 2017, the project received USD$1.4 million in financing from the Inter-American Development Bank and Caribbean Development Bank to open 2 microfinance institutions specialized in financial products and services for entrepreneurs, with an emphasis on women entrepreneurs.

Results as of September 30, 2018

  • 306 businesses received support.
  • 7 financial institutions received support.
  • 1,499 loans were granted to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • 3 financial products were developed and launched (including one specifically for women entrepreneurs).
  • 39% of coached entrepreneurs were women.
  • 33% of loans granted by the supported financial institutions went to women entrepreneurs.
  • 2 entrepreneur financial centres (EFCs) were set up.
