Designed and tested as part of the Supporting the Agricultural Financial System in Colombia project (PASAC) carried out by Développement international Desjardins (DID), DECISION is a digital solution that accelerates and increases the agility of the agricultural credit analysis and granting process. This application uses the large agro-economic database developed by DID and its partners as part of PASAC and can be used both online and offline.
Credit officers—in-branch or in the field—can quickly make informed decisions to finalize loan applications and support their decisions with complete, up-to-date agronomic information. DECISION is accessible via a web interface or mobile device, allowing credit officers to model the financial behaviour of productive agricultural projects in a practical, agile and timely manner.
Financial institutions can use this innovative tool to safely ensure information traceability and preservation regarding their clients' debt and productive projects. They can access reliable reports that allow them to manage and optimize the entire credit process.
Fostering financial inclusion safely
In Colombia, stakeholders in the agricultural financial sector quickly and enthusiastically adopted DECISION, which resulted in:
- better client knowledge on the part of credit officers and financial institutions
- a marked improvement in credit quality and accuracy, thereby fostering safe access to credit for the country's farmers
- a significant increase in efficiency—the average length of interviews has decreased by 75%—allowing financial institutions to reach more people
