Clause that allows you to request a mortgage renewal and a payment adjustment when the payments are higher than the ones made during the preceding term1.
Adjusted payments may be equal to the previous payments. If they are higher, the increase will be equal to the inflation rate.
The rate of your loan is currently 7%. When you renew, the rate in effect for the term of your choice is 10%, for a 3% difference. If the inflation rate is only 2%, you can ask that your payments increase only by 2%! The difference is capitalized and your mortgage payments are spread out.
