Car trip?

Before you leave, make sure that your vehicle is in good condition. Make all the necessary repairs, especially if you have a long drive ahead. Check your tire pressure and don't forget your spare tire or tools at home. Take the time to read the owner's manual: note the specifications for trailers and tire pressure when the vehicle is fully loaded. Bring a spare kit and a first aid kit. A badly-loaded luggage rack can increase your fuel consumption by 25% if you drive 110 km/hr. With current gas prices as high as they are, you should give it some thought. Travel light. It's worth it.

You're very excited; if you have to, you'll travel all day and all night to get there, right? Be careful... it is strongly recommended that you never drive more than eight hours a day, preferably in the daytime. Night driving is more conducive to accidents, and who needs to have an accident on vacation, especially in another country!

Even if the number of deaths and hospitalizations from car accidents has dropped in Canada in recent decades, excessive speed is recognized as a significant factor in many accidents. Take your time, particularly if you are travelling with children.
