Desjardins: a world leader in ATM accessibility

Did you know that all of the 3,000 ATMs operated by the Desjardins network (nearly 2,800 in Quebec) offer voice-guided services to help the visually impaired make transactions? Desjardins Group is the only institution worldwide with such a large proportion of accessible ATMs. The Desjardins Financial Services Division also received recognition from the Regroupement des personnes aveugles et amblyopes du Québec for adding this feature to Desjardins ATMs.

Approximately 2,100 ATMs are accessible to people with reduced mobility, that is 70%. They can be identified by their lower components (keyboard, screen, buttons) and shelves that are more practical for the wheelchair-bound or people of smaller stature, thus enabling them to safely make transactions.

Desjardins also has a new type of ATM that is even more user-friendly, offering features like ergonomic grab bars which can be used by members to help raise themselves or get closer.

Access to the Desjardins Web site

In 2007, Desjardins was named the leader in Web site accessibility for blind persons by the Institut Nazareth et Louis-Braille (INLB) and the Coopérative Accessibilité Web.
