Josée and Simon have five Regular Savings Accounts. The first account contains the money for monthly expenses; the second for annual expenses; the third for medium-term projects; the fourth for long-term savings (the balance is then invested); the last is for property tax payments, made by automatic instalments. Another account could be created as an emergency fund.
Simon explains, "Bills are mainly fixed amounts payable to the billers (which are registered with Desjardins). This makes it even easier. Bill and tax payments can be set up in AccèsD to be made on their due dates.
Why so many accounts? To easily follow what bills need to be paid and when, so you can efficiently track your income and expenses. How much does all this cost? The couple opted for the Autonomous Plan because they rarely write cheques, transact online and go to the ATM only about once a week. They only have a few additional Interac payments. Not all AccèsD transactions are free so be sure to find out which ones are charged.
