Application to open an account – Instructions

If you do not go to your caisse within 12 months to activate your account, account funds will be returned to the financial institution from which they originally came.

This application is for you if:
  • you are in the process of immigrating to Canada, and
  • you are not yet a resident of Canada.
Time required to fill out the application:
Approximately 5 minutes. (For security purposes, your application form will be automatically terminated after 30 minutes of inactivity.)
Follow-up and processing:
  • A Desjardins advisor will contact you within 48 hours (business days).
  • Once in Canada, you must go to the caisse specified by the Desjardins advisor to finalize the opening of your account.
Documents required to complete the application:
  • Your passport.
  • Other official documents issued by the Government of Canada or the Quebec Government as part of your immigration application.
  • If appropriate, offer of employment letter from your Canadian employer.
