Opening an account in a financial institution will allow you to withdraw cash, pay bills, deposit money and send and receive funds transfers. No security is required to open an account and it becomes immediately available to you.
From the moment you open an account at a Desjardins caisse, you become a member of a savings and credit cooperative. This means that, unlike a bank client, you are a co-owner of your caisse and have the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting. Caisse members also enjoy several advantages, such as member dividends.
If you sign up for Savings-Life Insurance when you open your account, you will get a refund equal to the first 3 monthly premiums.
