Opening an account in a financial institution will allow you to withdraw cash, pay bills, deposit money and send and receive funds transfers.
From the moment you open an account at a Desjardins caisse, you become a member of a savings and credit cooperative. This means that, unlike a bank client, you are a co-owner of your caisse and enjoy several advantages.
You recently immigrated to Canada or are in the process of immigrating to Canada but have not yet arrived? No matter what your situation, you can open an account in a Desjardins caisse today.
Did you know?
- You can use your account funds prior to your arrival in Canada if you fill out the Identification Verification Procedure for an Account Application (PDF, 41 KB) once you have received confirmation of your new account.

- 2 pieces of valid ID, including one with a photo (i.e., passport, permanent resident card, immigration document (IMM), Québec Selection Certificate, valid driver's license, etc.).
- $5, i.e. the qualifying share, which is the amount required to become a member.
