Are you wondering what the difference is between a caisse and a bank? It's simple. Desjardins members become co-owners of their caisse when they pay the $5 qualifying share.
As a member, you can vote on how your caisse distributes member dividends. When the caisse makes profits, part of its surplus earnings is returned to members and another part is deposited into a social fund that:
- supports humanitarian organizations
- makes access to quality health care easier
- helps create work and support new companies
- supports and promotes a variety of activities for young people
And, if you are between 18 and 30, a Desjardins caisse member and would like to see what it's like to be an officer, the Young Intern Officer program is just for you.
