Travel insurance is a must for avoiding problems when you travel.
Benefits:
The cost of insurance is called a "premium". Your premium is based on your age, the length of your trip, and the type of coverage you choose.
If you travel with your parents, the family premium is equal to the individual premiums of the two oldest people in the group–you could save quite a bit!
Desjardins offers various coverage options to fit your needs:
Coverage
It covers emergency care provided outside your province of residence, for up to $5 million. It also covers transportation or repatriation expenses incurred for medical reasons or subsequent to a death.
In an emergency, it covers your transportation expenses to return to your province of residence and to continue the trip.
This coverage pays benefits Benefit: Amount paid to a person under the coverage of an insurance policy to compensate for what he or she has lost. to your estate (generally, to your parents) in case of dismemberment or death under any circumstances during your trip or during the carriage by air.
This coverage pays you benefits if your baggage is stolen or damaged. It also covers the replacement of your passport, visa, driver's licence or birth certificate. If your baggage is delayed, you could receive benefits to cover the essentials until it arrives.
You may be forced to cancel your trip at the last minute due to circumstances beyond your control. With this insurance, all the costs you paid in advance will be reimbursed to you.
Package
A package includes one or more types of coverage. Depending on your needs, you can choose from:
This is the most comprehensive package. It includes Emergency Health Care coverage, Accident coverage and Baggage coverage.
This insurance includes Emergency Health Care coverage and covers all out-of-province trips of 23 days or less you make in the course of a year.
