How to survive a car trip with your parents

How many times last year did you ask your parents "Are we there yet? Why is it taking so long?" Chances are that your parents, like thousands of other Canadian families, will decide to drive to your vacation destination again this summer!

Here are some tips to help pass the time:
  • Before leaving, mark out all the key landmarks (towns, mountains, tourist attractions) as well as their distance from your final destination. That way, you can follow the itinerary and figure out for yourself how long it will take to get there!

  • Bring your CD or MP3 player.

  • There's also the classic travel scavenger hunt. Make a list of items to watch for while driving. Look around and count the number of blue cars, license plate numbers with the letters A, B, etc., horses or men wearing hats, just to name a few examples. You can even challenge other family members: whoever spots the most in 15 minutes wins!

Travel Insurance is also part of your baggage!

Travel Insurance allows your family to travel with peace of mind and avoid getting into debt. It protects you in the event of an illness or accident while you are travelling outside your home province. For example, if your little brother falls off his bike and breaks his wrist during a trip to the United States, travel insurance will reimburse the money your parents will have to pay for medical consultations, various treatments and drugs.
