Healthy body, healthy mind
A few tips to help you be active every day.
Many scientists have proven that students who are physically active and fit are more likely to do well at school! Not only that, but physical activity helps you control your weight, reduce stress,
increase your self-esteem and more. So what are you waiting for? Get moving!
Some sort of daily exercise is essential to keep your body fit. Health professionals tell us that young people in your age group should do at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day (ideally 90 minutes). You can achieve this
target by breaking your physical activity sessions into several 5 to 10 minute segments throughout the day.
Getting started
To build physical activity into your daily life, you need to start by choosing activities you really enjoy, like dancing, skateboarding, in-line skating, soccer, yoga, etc.
There are many ways to be more active:
- Walk to school instead of taking the bus or getting a ride.
- Play ball or footbag during recess or a break.
- Walk the dog.
- Dance 'til you drop to your favourite music.
- Try something new like indoor climbing or a yoga class.
- Etc…
It's up to you to find the best way to get moving! Good luck, and hang in there! :-)
