What’s on this summer?
Railslides and rock and roll
June 21 is international Go Skateboarding Day! Since 2004, skateboarders around the world have been taking to the streets on this day to celebrate their favourite sport.
If you've never tried "pushing wood," now's your chance! Watch for events organized in your neighbourhood! You can find more information on the Go Skateboarding Day site and on 33mag.com.
Several competitions and demos will be going on throughout the summer. Visit a skatepark near you to find out about events in your area. Visit Info-Skate.com for an extensive list of skateparks here and around the world.
Skateboarding isn't only for guys
By the way, if you think skateboarding is just for boys, you need a reality check! Just talk to the Skirtboarders, a gang of girls from across Canada who can pull off 360 flips and boardslides with the best of them! The Skirtboarders participate in tons of events, do demos all over the place (they went to Mexico last winter) and
have even shot a film! Check out their site for details.
