Thumbs up for an unassuming but really appealing album, Des Cobras, des Tarentules by 3 Gars su'l Sofa. Often funny, sometimes touching: it always puts a smile on my face. The three guys ("Guys") pay homage to
simplicity and those joyful little moments in life, creating what they call "happy music." |

Thumbs down for the The Ataris' dreadful offering, Welcome the Night. My biggest disappointment so far in 2007, this album is light years away from the group's catchy punk rock past. The Ataris are trying to push their music further, but
it rarely works. More often than not, you get the impression you're listening to a group that's trying to find itself but isn't able to give us the emotion and chills they used to. More's the pity.
